ingredients
- 2365.9 ml water
- 59.16 ml ham soup base
- 473.18 ml diced cooked ham
- 414.03 ml chopped carrots
- 236.59 ml chopped celery
- 236.59 ml chopped onion
- 1182.95 ml peeled and diced potatoes (I use the red skinned)
- 946.36 ml milk
- 236.59 ml American cheese spread (I use Velveeta)
- flour (optional)
- water, equal parts with flour,whisked with flour together until smooth to thicken soup (optional)
- salt
- white pepper
directions
- In large soup pot, combine water, ham base, ham, carrots, celery and onions.
- Cook over medium heat 15 minutes.
- Add potatoes and cook until tender, 30 to 30 minutes.
- Combine milk and cheese spead in medium saucepan.
- Cook on low heat until cheese has melted stirring often so it does not burn.
- Add to potato mixture.
- If desired, thicken soup by gradually adding the flour/water mixture until soup has reached desired consistency.
- Add salt and pepper.

<p>I'm retired since August 2007 after 20 years from a library in central Wisconsin. I guess you could say my hobby is cooking. My husband has even gained weight since I am home more. <br /><br />I love trying new recipes and just started smoking food in my new smoker. So far I have only made salmon and turkey. Both turned out good. <br />We have two grown children and two granddaughters. <br /><br />We also love camping and try to go often. My husband loves fishing and hunting so we have alot of fish and venison and the freezer. <br /><br />I love Zaar and visit the site almost every day. I really love it when I get a good review on one of my recipes. I just wish members would alow zaar mail fo I could thank them for the review.</p>
