Gorgonzola Butter

"Flavored butters are a much-favored condiment for me & this one from *The Carnival Experience* by Peter Leypold (Exec Chef of Carnival Cruise Lines) can be used often w/filet mignon, tenderloin, grilled gourmet burgers or on baguette bread to accompany a soup or salad course. *Enjoy* !"

  1. I have been looking for a recipe similar to Sullivan's Steakhouse gorgonzola garlic butter. I love that topped on my filet mignon, and I have been dying to find a copycat recipe. I tried this recipe tonight on a T-bone steak, leaving out the lemon, worcestershire, and tabasco, and adding a teaspoon of fresh chopped parsley. I have a very discerning pallet, and this recipe is on the money! I may never go back to Sullivans! :)

  2. What a lovely addition to our steak! I made half a batch and got 10 rosettes. I will freeze the rest until Thanksgiving! They look cute and are very tasty! Made for Twissis' Football win 2014.

  3. I made this as written except for the Tabasco. I can't believe how good it was on a slice of rosemary & olive oil sourdough bread that I warmed in the oven. I had it with a bowl of homemade chili. Thanks for sharing. Made for Football Pool 2012.

  4. Mmmm. this is tasty. I didn't use Tabasco, because I didn't have any, but otherwise made as written. Mine had a fairly strong worcestershire flavor at first, but the flavors mellowed and blended when the butter was chilled. I can imagine many, many uses for this. Congratulations on your football pool win, and thanks for posting!

  5. I am reporting these as made, but Not tasted yet! They are all tucked up in the fridge awaiting their appearance on our dinner table tomorrow; I am serving this butter on baguette with soup as a starter for dinner with friends. Made for Aussie/Kiwi recipe swap #22 and Appy Photo event in the Photos Forum. I will report back photos and taste stars tomorrow! FT:-) Edited on 04/12 for taste stars! Served with hot baguette and cornichons for an elegant appy! I was going to serve this with soup. but having tasted the butter, it was so tasty and cheesy that I changed my plans! Another imaginative and useful recipe from you Twissis - saved for the future! Merci encore! FT

I am an American transplanted from Dallas to Iceland by marriage to a native Icelander & I retired to become his "Kitchen Queen". We love to entertain our family & friends, so I have an eclectic collection of recipes. I especially love simple, easy-fix, flexible & make-ahead recipes - BUT also like challenging myself on occasion. I enjoy baking & food photography. I am devoted to the "More is Always Better Principle" & apply it liberally to bacon, butter & garlic. I can have ingredient issues due to availability here in Iceland & my DH is medically diet-restricted from some ingredients as well. Either situation might require me to modify a recipe, but I will do my best to be true to your recipes & fair/honest in my reviews. Mary Pat (aka twissis)
